Epstein, who Lennon's former band-mate Sir Paul McCartney, 73, referred to as the Fifth Beatle discovered the band in 1961, and managed them from 1962 until his tragic death in 1967 from an accidental drug overdose at the age of 32. Tortured and secretly gay, Epstein had an intense friendship with Lennon, who was shot dead by deranged fan Mark Chapman in 1980. Epstein and Lennon famously went on holiday together to Spain just after first wife Cynthia had given birth to her and the Beatle's son Julian in April 1963.
